This week is the start of school in Nashville , Tennessee (TN) . As our children board the school buses , I thought I would take a minute to discuss some safety proposals to avoid school bus accidents. It appears Tennessee will join several other states that require crossing control arms on school buses to protect students from being hit by other cars . If this measure passes the State Legislature , all new buses would have to be equiped with crossing arms . According to the National Coalition for School Bus Safety , 24 children were killed getting off school buses last year . Wilson County and Metro Nashville already install the crossing guard warnings .
