General Motors announced plans for a driverless car which could be on the market in ten years . Much of the technology is in place for these super cars to head to the road . A key benefit of this technology will be safer roads and reducing the 42,000 traffic deaths that happen in the U.S. each year . Ninety-five percent of these accidents are caused by human mistakes . The question remains if the American public will give up their car keys . I am all in favor of this type of technology to prevent accidents , however why are the major car companies not developing cars that can rid us from our dependence on foreign oil . Driverless cars running on gas . Who is going to pump the gas .
