The rules of the road in Tennessee are found in T.C.A. 55-8-101 . The code sets forth all the traffic laws in the State of Tennessee .This is the beginning point in determining liabilty in a car or truck accident case . The rules of the road establish numerous rules regulating the operation of cars , trucks , motorcycles , and bicycles . If you can prove a defendant has violated one of these rules of the road , you can make a case that they are negligent per se which means they are automatically at fault . Equally important is local municipal ordinances which set forth local rules of the road . Some of the rules of the road are contained in the Tennessee Drivers Handbook which can be obtained at any drivers testing office .
