Tennessee Drag-Racing Accident Kills Six

A drag-racing accident this weekend killed 6 young spectators and injured over 20 more. The six people that died were all either in their teens or their early twenties.

The crash occurred at around 6:30 P.M. on Saturday at an annual charity event, Cars for Kids. The driver spun the race cars' wheels, lost control of the vehicle, and then drove into a street full of people.

The driver of the race car was identified as Troy Warren Critchley. He suffered minor injuries during the crash and was taken to a local hospital.

Investigators say it will be one week before they release their findings about the accident.

The District Attorney General, Mike Dunavant, said he has not decided whether to charge driver Troy Critchley.

Critchley said in a statement he believed the road was inspected and approved for the exhibition.
He also says Selmer police drove down the road and told the crowd to move back before the burnout.
