Hospital bed safety is a huge concern of mine . Several years ago , I handled a product liabilty case againist Vail Bed Products .Vail ignored the FDA warnings and several children accross the country were trapped in the beds and were killed by mechanical asphyxiation . Due to my client and others accross the country the plant was shut down by U.S. Marshalls. It led me to be on the alert for bed safety for our elderly . Patients who have problems with memory , sleeping , uncontrolled body movement and those who get out of bed and walk unsafely without assistance , must carefully be assessed for the best ways to keep them from harm , such as falling . Over the next couple of weeks , I intend to focus on bed rail safety in my blog. Keep reading for more information .
