Close to one million Simplicity and Graco beds have been recalled . Three children were trapped and suffocated to death . It appears the bed was put together improperly by the consumers which created a gap in which the child became trapped. I handled a similar case a few years ago involving a bed made by Vail Products in which the same type of problem caused numerous deaths . The Vail bed had a gap in the mattress which caused the child to fall into the gap and suffocate . In the Vail case , the company failed to disclose the problem to the public unlike Graco and Simplicity. Always be careful with children's products and follow the directions carefully and heed the warnings.
